How the partner programme works
Everything on this page in plain words: what happens after someone clicks your link, when the money moves, and what to do when a number does not look right. Nothing here is technical, and you do not need a website or any experience to follow it.
What to expect, and when
A realistic order of events, from the day you share your link.
The same second
Someone clicks your link. The click shows on your dashboard within a few minutes, and their browser quietly remembers you for 90 days.
Minutes after they subscribe
The referral appears in your Referrals list. If they took a free trial, it appears as On trial.
Their first payment
A commission is booked for you, at your rate on that day, and it starts its hold.
7 or 30 days later
The hold ends and the commission is released. It moves from Held to Available.
The next monthly payout
If your Available balance has reached $25, it is sent to your bank account. Below that, it waits and adds up.
Every month after that
Every payment they make books you another commission, for as long as they stay subscribed.
The basics
Start here if you just joined.
What is this, in one paragraph?
You share a personal link for one of our products. When someone subscribes through it, they become your referral. From then on, every time they pay their subscription, you earn a percentage of what they paid. Not once: every month, for as long as they stay.
It is free to join, there is nothing to buy, and there is no target you have to hit.
What do I need to start?
An email address, a password, and somewhere to share a link: a channel, a newsletter, a profile, a group of people who trust you. You do not need a website.
You have to be 18 or older, and one person or business gets one account.
Do I have to be a customer of the products I share?
No. But the partners who earn the most are the ones who actually use what they share, because they can show it working instead of describing it.
How much will I earn?
Nobody can promise you a number, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can give you is the arithmetic: at 20%, a customer paying $20 a month earns you $4 a month, every month they stay. Ten of those is $40 a month that keeps arriving without you doing anything new.
The honest part: most people who click never subscribe. That is true of every programme like this one. Five people who stay for a year are worth far more than a thousand clicks.
How long before I see actual money?
Longer than you would like, and for a good reason. Your commission has to wait out the window in which the customer could still ask for their money back: 7 days on a monthly plan, 30 days on an annual one. Then it waits for the monthly payout, and the payout only goes out once you have at least $25.
So your first real payment usually lands a few weeks after your first sale. After that it settles into a monthly rhythm.
Does it cost anything, ever?
No. We never ask you for money, for a card, or for a fee to get paid. If you ever see a message asking for that, it is not from us — write to [email protected].
Your account
Signing up, your name, your password, and keeping the account safe.
The six-digit code never arrived
Check the spam or junk folder first; that is where it is nine times out of ten. The code is good for 15 minutes and you get 8 tries at typing it, so if it has been sitting there a while, ask for a new one instead of reusing the old.
Still nothing after a few minutes? Write to [email protected] from the same address you signed up with.
Important: your link does nothing until you confirm your email
This catches almost everyone. Until you enter the six-digit code, your link is not live: clicks are not counted, and a subscription through it does not become your referral. There is no way to recover those afterwards.
If you shared your link before confirming, confirm now and share it again.
What is my "referral name"?
It is the part at the end of your link. Make it your channel, your brand or a nickname — it is the only part of you that strangers see.
Lowercase letters, digits and dashes, between 3 and 24 characters. A few names are kept for us (things like "admin", "support" or "mbxflow"), so if one is refused, pick another.
Careful: changing your referral name kills your old link
The moment you change it, the old link stops working. Anyone who clicks it afterwards (in an old video description, an old post, a printed card) still reaches the product, but they are no longer your referral and you earn nothing from them.
People already recorded as your referrals are safe; they stay yours. It is only the old link that dies. If your link is already out in the world, think twice.
Why do you want my real name and country?
For payouts, and for the tax statements that come with them. Your legal name never appears in your link or anywhere the public can see it.
I need to change my email address
Write to [email protected] from the address on the account. It is not something you can change yourself, on purpose: an email address is the key to the money.
Passwords, and what happens when you change one
At least 12 characters. A short sentence you will remember beats a clever jumble you will not.
When you change it, every other device is signed out. That is deliberate: if someone else was in your account, changing the password throws them out.
Two-factor and passkeys — do I really need them?
To receive payouts, yes: you need either two-factor authentication (a six-digit code from an authenticator app) or a passkey (your fingerprint, your face, or your device PIN). Nothing is paid out of an account protected by a password alone.
A passkey is the easier of the two, and it makes signing in faster as well.
I lost my phone, or my authenticator app
Use one of the 8 recovery codes you saved when you turned two-factor on. Each one signs you in once. Once you are in, turn two-factor off and set it up again on the new phone, or generate a fresh set of codes.
Lost the codes too? Write to [email protected]. Expect to be asked to prove the account is yours; that delay is the point of the whole thing.
Why can I not turn two-factor off?
You can, but if it is the only strong protection on your account, turning it off also disconnects payouts until you turn it back on or add a passkey. If you already have a passkey, payouts keep working and nothing happens.
Somewhere I do not recognise is signed in
Settings shows every device signed into your account and when it was last seen. Sign out anything you do not recognise, then change your password. Sessions expire on their own after 30 days.
Your link, and how a click becomes a referral
The part that decides whether you get paid. Worth five minutes.
What actually happens when someone clicks
Three things, in about a tenth of a second. The click is counted on your dashboard. Their browser is given a small note saying you sent them, good for 90 days. Then they land on the product's site like any other visitor.
If they subscribe at any point in those 90 days, on that same browser, the note is read at checkout and the referral is yours.
What breaks it
The note lives in one browser on one device. So it is lost if they click on their phone and subscribe on their laptop, if they browse in a private or incognito window, if they clear their history, or if they wait longer than 90 days.
It is also lost if they never click at all — if you say "just go to mbxflow.com" and they type it in, there is nothing to read at checkout. Always give the link.
They clicked someone else's link too
The last link they clicked before subscribing is the one that counts. It replaces whatever was there before.
Can I refer someone who is already a customer?
No. The programme is for new customers; an existing one cannot be referred, and a subscription already recorded under one partner cannot be recorded again under another.
Can I use my own link?
You can click it as much as you like — that is just a click. But subscribing with your own email through your own link is a self-referral: it is recorded, shown to you as Void, and earns nothing. The same goes for your own company and any account you control.
The banners, and the version for musicians
The Banners page gives you ready-made images with the code to paste them. Paste that code anywhere your site lets you add HTML — a sidebar block, a widget, inside a post. Some website builders quietly strip HTML out of ordinary text boxes; if a banner does not appear, that is usually why, and the fix is to use the builder's "HTML", "embed" or "custom code" block instead.
The banners aimed at musicians send people to the MBX Artists site instead. The referral still counts exactly the same when they subscribe.
Do I have to tell people I earn a commission?
Yes, and it is not optional. Say it in plain words, close to the link: "I earn a commission if you subscribe through this link." Writing only "affiliate link" is not enough in most countries.
It also works in your favour. People trust the person who says it out loud.
Reading your dashboard
What each number counts, and what it does not.
Clicks
Every click on your link, counted by day. Not by person: the same visitor clicking three times is three clicks. We deliberately do not follow individual visitors around.
A quiet detail worth knowing: when you paste your link into a chat app or a social post, the app often fetches the page itself to build the little preview card. That can show up as a click nobody made. If your click count looks flattering and your referrals do not, this is usually why.
Why do so many clicks come from "Direct"?
Because "Direct" means the click arrived without saying where it came from: messages, chat apps, a link typed by hand, most phone apps. It is completely normal for it to be your biggest line.
Held, Available, Paid out
Held is money booked for you that is still waiting out the refund window. Available is money that is yours and is waiting for the next payout. Paid out is what has already been sent to your bank.
Your rate, and the counter next to it
Your rate starts at 20% and rises with the number of your referrals who are subscribed and actually paying. The counter tells you how many more you need for the next level, up to 30% at 25.
Levels switch on by themselves. There is nothing to apply for and nobody to ask.
My rate went down
The count is of referrals paying right now, so it moves in both directions. If some of them cancel, you can drop back a level.
Commissions already booked keep the rate they were booked at. A drop only affects what is booked from that moment on.
What do I get to see about the people I refer?
Their plan, their dates and their status. Never their name, never their email, never anything you could contact them with. That is by design, and it protects you as much as it protects them.
What are campaigns?
Occasional offers for partners: a higher rate for a period, or a bonus once you reach a milestone. You join with one click, or with a code you were given.
While a campaign is running you earn whichever is higher, your level or the campaign. They do not stack.
How the money works
Booked, held, released, paid — in that order, every time.
When is a commission booked?
On every payment a referred customer makes, not only their first. A yearly plan books once a year; a monthly plan books every month. As long as they keep paying, you keep earning.
Why is my commission "Held"?
Because the customer can still ask for their money back. If they did that after you had been paid, we would have to take it back off you — so we wait instead.
The wait is 7 days from the first payment on a monthly plan, and 30 days after each payment on an annual one. When it ends, the commission is released without you doing anything.
The hold date has passed but it still says Held
Releases run on a schedule, not the instant the clock ticks over. Give it a few hours. If a full day passes after the hold date and nothing has moved, write to us.
The customer canceled — what happens to my money?
Anything already released stays yours, permanently. They stayed past the refund window, so you earned it.
Anything still in hold at that moment is void. And since there are no more payments coming, nothing new is booked.
The customer was refunded, or disputed the charge
The commission for that particular payment is void. If it was their very first payment and it was still in hold, the whole referral ends: they effectively never paid.
If it was a later payment — a duplicate billing put right by support, say — the subscription and your referral carry on earning as normal.
A partial refund changes nothing. Only a full one does.
What if I was already paid for a payment that gets reversed?
We do not chase you for it. The amount is simply deducted from your next payout.
What about tax?
Commissions are paid in full, with nothing taken off. What you owe on them where you live is yours to declare. We provide the statements; the filing is yours.
What currency?
US dollars, always. Your bank converts it if it holds another currency, at its own rate.
Getting paid
What has to be in place before money can leave.
What do I need to set up?
Three things: a confirmed email, two-factor authentication or a passkey on your account, and a bank account connected from the Payouts section in Settings.
The identity and bank details go straight to our payments provider. They are never stored here, and we never see your account number.
Settings says "Payouts open soon"
It means the paying-out part of the programme is not switched on yet, so there is nothing for you to connect. Nothing is lost while you wait: every commission is recorded and sits there with your name on it.
When do payouts actually happen?
Once a month, in one batch, and only if your Available balance has reached $25. Below that it carries over to the next month and keeps adding up.
The status says "Incomplete"
You started connecting your bank account but the provider still wants something — usually an identity document, or a detail that did not match. Open the payout dashboard from Settings and it will tell you exactly what is missing. Nothing can be sent until it says Ready.
A payout says "Failed"
It is retried automatically in the next batch, and it is safe: the same money cannot be sent twice, however many times it is retried. In the meantime it stays attached to that payout — it is not lost.
The usual causes are a bank account that was closed, changed, or never finished being set up. Check the payout dashboard in Settings first. If a second batch fails too, write to us.
My account is "under review"
A review pauses payouts while we look at something. Your link keeps working and your commissions keep being recorded the whole time; nothing is being taken away. Write to [email protected] if you want to know where it stands.
Do not sit on a balance for years
If payouts are never set up within twelve months of your first released commission, that balance is forfeited. Set it up once, early, and then forget about it.
When something does not look right
The things partners write to us about most, and what is usually behind them.
Someone told me they subscribed, but I see nothing
Work down this list; it is almost always one of them. Your email was not confirmed yet when they clicked. They clicked on one device and subscribed on another. They were in a private window, or cleared their history in between. More than 90 days passed between the click and the subscription. They typed the address instead of clicking your link. They clicked another partner's link afterwards. They were already a customer of that product.
Also give it a little time: a referral appears within minutes of the subscription, not instantly.
If none of that fits, write to [email protected] with the day it happened and your referral name, and we will look.
It says "On trial" and there is no money
That is exactly right. A free trial has not been charged, and commission comes from what is actually paid. When their trial ends and the first payment goes through, your commission is booked automatically.
My clicks are not going up
Check the link itself first, character by character, and check that your email is confirmed — an unconfirmed account counts nothing.
If you changed your referral name, every copy of the old link out there is dead. And if a huge burst of clicks arrives from one internet connection in one minute, the extras are ignored on purpose, to keep the numbers honest.
Plenty of clicks, no referrals at all
Unpleasant to hear, but usually true: the clicks are not the right people. Traffic that arrives because a link looked interesting almost never subscribes. Traffic that arrives because someone trusts you and has the problem the product solves, does.
The Playbook in your dashboard is entirely about that difference. It is worth twenty minutes.
A referral says "Void" and I do not know why
Almost always a self-referral: the email that subscribed is the email on your partner account. We record it and show it to you rather than making it disappear, so you can see what happened.
These numbers do not match what I count myself
They will not match exactly, and that is expected. We count clicks by day at our end; your own analytics counts something slightly different, ad blockers hide some visits, and link previews add some. Watch the trend, not the exact figure.
I joined a campaign and my rate did not change
Two normal reasons. A milestone campaign only raises your rate once you have actually reached the milestone. And you always earn the higher of your level and the campaign — if your level was already higher, nothing changes.
I cannot sign in
After 8 wrong attempts the account locks for 15 minutes. Wait it out — trying again during the lock does not help.
Forgotten password: use "Forgot your password?" and a code comes by email. No authenticator to hand: use a recovery code. Neither: write to [email protected].
Something on the page is in the wrong language
Pick your language from the selector at the top right; the choice sticks, and your emails follow it. The Programme Terms are the exception — they stay in English, because that is the version that legally binds both of us.
I think someone got into my account
Change your password immediately — that alone signs out every other device. Then check the signed-in devices list and the payout details in Settings, turn on two-factor or add a passkey, and write to [email protected].
The short list of things that end an account
The full version is in the Programme Terms, section 7, and in the Playbook. This is the part nobody can claim not to have read.
Never do these
No spam of any kind: no mass messages, no dropping your link into groups, threads or comments where nobody asked for it. This is the fastest way to lose everything you have earned.
No paid advertising on the MediaBoxEnt or MBX names or on the name of any of our products, and no accounts, handles or domains that could be mistaken for ours.
No coupon, cashback or deal sites, and nobody may be paid or rewarded to click or to subscribe.
No invented facts, prices or features, and never present yourself as staff. You are a partner who uses the product.
No tricks that record a referral from someone who did not knowingly click your link.
What happens if the rules are broken
The account can be suspended immediately and without notice, and unpaid commissions are void. Where money was already paid on referrals that broke the rules, it can be recovered from future payouts.
Can the programme change?
Yes, and you should know that going in. Rates, levels, hold periods and terms can change, and the programme can end. What has already been released to you is always paid. Nothing beyond that is promised.
What the words on your dashboard mean
Your referrals and your commissions each carry a status. This is the whole vocabulary.
A referral says…
| It says | It means |
|---|---|
| On trial | They subscribed through your link but are inside a free trial. Nothing has been charged yet, so there is no commission yet. This is normal, and it is good news. |
| Subscribed | They are paying. The first payment has not been booked yet, or is on its way. |
| In hold | They have paid at least once, and that payment is waiting out the refund window before it becomes yours. |
| Qualified | They stayed past the refund window. At least one commission from them has been released to you. |
| Canceled | They ended their subscription. Anything already released stays yours; anything still in hold is gone. |
| Refunded | Their money was given back, or they disputed the charge with their bank. See the questions below. |
| Void | It never counted. The usual reason is a self-referral: your own email subscribing through your own link. |
A commission says…
| It says | It means |
|---|---|
| Held | Booked and waiting out the refund window: 7 days on monthly plans, 30 days on annual ones. |
| Released | Yours. It counts in your Available balance and goes out with the next monthly payout. |
| Paid | It was sent to your bank account in a payout. |
| Void | It will not be paid. The customer canceled, was refunded, or disputed the charge before the window passed. |
Still stuck?
Write to us. A real person reads it, and there is no such thing as a question that is too basic.
- Include your referral name, the day the thing happened, and what you expected to see next to what you actually see.
- Never send us your password, a two-factor code or a recovery code. We will never ask you for any of them.
- Never send us the personal details of someone you referred. We cannot use them, and you should not be holding them for us.
